The Tennessee Vols are in a good position to steal a key recruit from the Alabama Crimson Tide.
2025 four-star linebacker Abduall Sanders Jr has been committed to Alabama since late March, but a recent visit to Tennessee has reportedly given the talented recruit plenty to think about.
Sanders, 6-foot-2/225 lbs from Santa Ana, CA (Mater Dei), is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 31 linebacker in the nation and the No. 24 player in the state of California.
"The four-star linebacker from Santa Ana Mater Dei remains happily committed to Alabama but is a little more open in his recruitment after being at Tennessee last weekend," wrote Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney this week. "Sanders loved how family-oriented the team was throughout his time in Knoxville and the coaching staff made it clear they love how he plays and thinks he can help bring back dominance to the Vols."
Scouting report via 247Sports: Sanders is a tough, physical kid and one of the more versatile linebackers in the country. He played as more of an edge rusher his first two seasons before moving to inside linebacker as a junior. It was a natural fit, and Sanders showed the ability to make plays in the box and roam sideline to sideline. He's very good on the blitz and has natural pass-rushing skill. He's also excellent in coverage and is the kind of 'backer who can play in any scheme and will never need to leave the field no matter the down or distance. He plays with maniacal effort and has a serious mean streak to him. Early on in his career, he was a very good receiver as well and his natural athleticism and body control carried over to the defensive side of the ball.
Sanders took an official visit to Tennessee last weekend and he'll return to Alabama this upcoming weekend.
That final visit could be enough for Alabama to keep Sanders in the commit column, but according to 247Sports, it's believed that the four-star recruit is giving Tennessee "legitimate consideration".
