A Tennessee Vols football legend offered a strong endorsement of UT head coach Josh Heupel this week.
Former Vols quarterback Heath Shuler, who played at Tennessee from 1991 to 1993, took to Twitter this week to praise Heupel's offensive mind.
Shuler quote-tweeted a tweet from Pro Football Focus that asked if Heupel has the best offensive mind in college football.
"There is no one else even close. GBO," wrote Shuler.
Shuler is still close to the program despite his career at Tennessee ending 30 years ago. The former Vol is often seen at Tennessee games and his son, Navy, joined the program as a walk-on in 2022 (Navy Shuler spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Appalachian State).
It's nearly impossible to find someone associated with Tennessee that isn't a huge Heupel fan. And how could they not be? Heupel is the first Vols coach since Phillip Fulmer to beat Alabama and Florida in the same season. He's also the first UT coach since Fulmer to deliver an 11-win season.
