All gas. No brakes. Tennessee Vols pitcher Ben Joyce may not know it, but that is his fastball's mantra. It has been noted throughout the season how hard Joyce throws, but he hit another level this past weekend. He accomplished something that has only been done by two players at the major league level. No one at the college level has ever been able to do it.

Record-setting Heat

You read that correctly. Joyce threw two pitches in a row that clocked in at 104 MPH. His fastball normally sits between 101-103 MPH, but he does touch that 104 number occasionally. Unfortunately for Mizzou, he hit it on two pitches back-to-back. Add in the nasty slider Joyce has in his arsenal, and it does not sound like a pleasant time to face him at the plate. You could argue Joyce is the most uncomfortable at-bat for any hitter in the entire country. The Vols are glad they have him.

Joyce and the rest of the bullpen have been marvelous for Tennessee this season. The Vols know when they go to their relievers that they will be very competitive. They're one of the biggest reasons that the team is the undisputed #1 team in the country right now. They hold the lead in the SEC, and Arkansas is the only team really in striking distance of them in the conference for anytime soon.

As for MLB pitchers, Jordan Hicks and Aroldis Chapman are two of the hardest throwers that the league has ever seen.

Like, Joyce, they have some great off-speed pitches as well. That's what makes guys like the Vols righty so dangerous on the mound.
