Tennessee Vols right handed pitcher Chase Dollander didn't have quite the junior year he expected after being named the SEC pitcher of the year as a sophomore. 

Dollander finished the 2023 season with a 4.75 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 89 innings pitched. 

In 2022, Dollander put up a 2.39 ERA in 16 games. 

Despite the "down season" in 2023, Dollander is still viewed as one of the top prospects in the 2023 MLB Draft. 

In fact, the latest MLB mock draft from CBS Sports has Dollander going to the Cincinnati Reds with the No. 7 overall selection. 

From CBS Sports: There's a lot of buzz that Dollander, who at times looked like the second-most dominant college pitcher in the country behind Skenes, will come off the board within the top 10 picks. The Reds have used their last three first-round picks on hitters (Austin Hendrick, Matt McLain, Cam Collier) though they are unafraid to take a big arm in the top 10 (Hunter Greene in 2017, Nick Lodolo in 2019), and Dollander fits the mold as a guy with crazy high upside but also some clear development needs.

CBS Sports previously mocked Dollander to the Toronto Blue Jays with the No. 20 overall selection. 

The results weren't there for Dollander in 2023 like they were in 2022, but the upside is still there. And that upside is why Dollander looks like a lock to be a top 10 pick in next month's draft. 

The 2023 MLB Draft will get underway on July 9.
