Tennessee Vols working to flip elite 4-star recruit from Oregon Ducks
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to steal an elite wide receiver from the Oregon Ducks
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to swipe an elite 2024 four-star recruit from the Oregon Ducks.
Tennessee currently has five players committed to its 2024 recruiting class, including four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell.
And they're hoping they can add a couple of more elite wide receivers to join Harrell in their 2024 class.
2024 four-star wide receiver Jordan Anderson committed to Oregon in December, but that hasn't stopped Tennessee from pursuing the talented recruit.
Anderson, 6-foot/165 lbs from Newport Beach, CA, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 15 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 14 player in the state of California. He's also rated as the No. 97 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The California native told 247Sports this week that his commitment to the Ducks is "very strong", but he's still hearing from other programs, including Tennessee.
“I still like Tennessee,” Anderson said. “I had a good time visiting there."
Anderson is close with Vols freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava (according to 247Sports, Anderson plays on the seven-on-seven team that is run by Nico's father). And that relationship with Iamaleava certainly gives Tennessee a legitimate chance in this recruiting battle.
As far as the chances that Anderson will actually back off his commitment to Oregon?
The talented wide receiver insisted he's still firmly committed to the Ducks, but he acknowledged that things could change down the road.
"It (Oregon) feels like home but at the same time, you never know what can happen down the road so I think it’s always good to keep those relationships with other schools," said Anderson.
Tennessee is doing its part to keep the relationship strong. We'll see this summer and into this fall if they can convince Anderson to change his mind.
