A pair of Tennessee Vols sophomore defenders were named as captains for UT's matchup against Kent State this weekend.
Tennessee announced on Friday that sophomore linebackers Arion Carter and Jeremiah Telander will serve as captains on Saturday night.
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Dayne Davis and redshirt senior long snapper Matthew Salansky were also named as captains for the game against Kent State.
Carter and Telander are playing key roles in Tennessee's defense as sophomores while playing alongside redshirt senior linebacker Keenan Pili. The Vols are much more athletic at linebacker than they have been in recent years thanks in large part to Carter and Telander.
Davis and Salansky, meanwhile, are both Tennessee natives (as is Carter) that have been with the program since 2019. Davis has been an important offensive lineman for the Vols thanks to his ability to play anywhere on the offensive line.
