Tennessee Vols cornerback Colton Hood has only played in five games since arriving at UT, but he’s already being viewed as a potential first round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Hood, who transferred from Colorado to Tennessee during the spring portal window, has been one of the Volunteers’ most important players early this season (especially with cornerback Jermod McCoy still out).

The Georgia native has scored two defensive touchdowns for Tennessee so far this season, including a huge pick six in the Vols’ 41-34 overtime win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs last weekend.

Tennessee Vols cornerback lands with Super Bowl contender in latest 2026 NFL mock draft

The latest 2026 NFL mock draft from The Athletic has Hood going to the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 31 overall selection.

“Just a redshirt sophomore, Hood — who played with Travis Hunter and DJ McKinney last year at Colorado — is off to a great start during his first year in the SEC,” wrote The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner. “He leads the Vols with five pass breakups and five forced incompletions. A very sturdy player, Hood (6-0, 195) could give Tennessee the best cornerback duo in college football, if/when McCoy gets back.”

Baumgardner has Vols cornerback Jermod McCoy getting selected by the Miami Dolphins with the No. 7 overall selection.

“The Tennessee All-American is reportedly close to getting back on the field after suffering an ACL tear in January,” noted Baumgardner of McCoy. “When that happens, we’ll need to see whether or not he can return to his 2024 form. If he does, he’ll be a top-10 prospect.”

There’s some hope that McCoy will return to action for the Vols on October 11 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. We should know more on McCoy’s status next week (Tennessee is off this weekend).
