The Tennessee Volunteers have been the target of plenty disrespect over the past couple of months.
Firstly, the Volunteers were ranked behind the Alabama Crimson Tide in the final College Football Playoff rankings. They beat Alabama this season.
Then, star quarterback Hendon Hooker was snubbed as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Another surprising gut punch for the Vols and their fans.
Now, their basketball team is being underrated nationally as well.
None of it really adds up when it comes to the Vols. In every instance, you would think that the national platform would give them their necessary credit. Instead, they continue to throw a bit of disrespect their way.
The Vols' case for #5 in the final CFP rankings was pretty clear.
They had the same amount of losses as Alabama and beat the Crimson Tide this season. Not to mention, their schedule was certainly harder than the Tide's.
As for Hooker, his injury certainly took a toll on his case for the award. That being said, his stats are quite comparable or even better than the finalists for the Heisman.
The Vols' growth this season would not have come without Hooker.
On the court, the Vols have played great ball over the past couple of weeks. That included the aforementioned victory over Kansas. The Vols sit at 7-1.
Their only loss came against Colorado very early in the season. They probably deserve to be ahead of Kansas for right now.
Overall, it has become a pattern of disrespect for the Vols over the past month on multiple levels.
