One of the strangest moments of the 2025 college football season happened last weekend when UAB’s Sirad Bryant stomped on the foot of Tennessee Vols kicker Max Gilbert.

Bryant stomped on Gilbert’s foot after the Volunteers converted a PAT attempt in Tennessee’s 56-24 win against UAB.

Bryant apologized to Gilbert after the game via a social media post.

“First off, I would like to apologize to Max Gilbert for stepping on his foot,” wrote Bryant. “Not only that, I would like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, and also to Blazer Nation. What I did was inexcusable, no matter the circumstances. I am better than that and take full accountability for my actions. It is not a representation of who I am as a player and person.”

UAB head coach Trent Dilfer announced earlier this week that Bryant will be suspended for the Blazer’s game on October 4 against Army (UAB is off this weekend).

“He won’t play in the next game,” said Dilfer of Bryant. “He’ll still be a full member of our team. We love Sirad. Sirad is a great kid. [He is] a very big part of our team. He’ll still help us try to go win against Army, he just won’t be on the field.”

Fortunately for the Vols, Gilbert wasn’t injured during the stomping incident.
