UConn head coach Jim Mora appeared to throw some thinly veiled shade at the Tennessee Vols on Saturday after his Huskies were blown out 59-3.
During his post-game press conference Mora made a statement that was full of innuendo.
“The only thing I can say, is it was a tough game," said Mora. "I am proud of our guys for the class that they showed on that football field before, during and after the game.”
That's an interesting remark for Mora to make after his team tried to cause some issues ahead of the game by getting in Tennessee's way — on the Vols' side of the field — while UT made their way to Shields-Watkins Field for warmups.
After the game, Mora barely shook Vols head coach Josh Heupel's hand. It appeared that Mora said something to Heupel that caused the Tennessee head coach to turn around an offer a smirk.
Heupel offered a classy response when asked about the drive by hand shake. The third year Tennessee head coach praised UConn's team and brushed off the childish move by Mora.
The Vols, by the way, got the last laugh as Tennessee defensive lineman Omar Norman-Lott ran through a line of UConn players after the game while waving a Tennessee flag.
I don't know why Mora is all in his feelings. I didn't see anything wrong with UConn's actions before the game or Tennessee's actions after the game. Competitors compete. And they play with an edge. When that happens, it's inevitable that players on each side of the field aren't going to love all over each other while the game is being played.
It sounds like Mora is too soft to be playing SEC teams.
