Tennessee Vols right-handed pitcher Chase Dollander is officially headed to an MLB organization. With the 9th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, the Colorado Rockies selected the talented righty. Dollander began the 2022-2023 season as the top pitching prospect in this class.
After a bit of a rocky season this year, he slid down the board a bit in this stacked draft class. Paul Skenes and Rhett Lowder passed him on many prospect boards, but many still considered Dollander an elite talent with plenty of upside. That's what this pick is for Colorado: upside.
Dollander was dominant in 2021-2022 for the Vols and looked un-hittable at times in the SEC. It will be very intriguing to see how he develops in the Rockies' system. Pitching in Colorado is a very tall task, but his physical abilities can push him to success in the future.
