The Tennessee Vols get a bit of a reprieve from their tough SEC schedule this weekend.
After consecutive games against Texas A&M, Alabama, and Kentucky (a stretch where the Vols went 2-1), Tennessee gets a home matchup against UConn, a team that's 1-7 so far this season.
The Vols will get back to the SEC grind on November 11 when they take on Missouri in a key road game.
Over the last couple of weeks, there have been some rumblings that Tennessee could at some point this season break out the orange helmets that they wore last year in their disastrous loss against South Carolina.

It seems unlikely that Tennessee will wear the helmets for the game against UConn on Saturday. The Vols are already honoring the legendary Pat Summitt with their uniforms (likely with some light blue accessories as they did last season against UT-Martin). Plus it's homecoming, so a traditional look would be appropriate.
That leaves the Missouri, Georgia, and Vanderbilt games. And the Mizzou game seems like the most likely choice for the orange helmets since it's a road game (I can't imagine they'd wear them against Georgia, and the Vanderbilt game is senior day, so that would seem like another lock for a traditional look).
Under no circumstances should the Vols wear them against Missouri. If that means they don't wear them at all this season, then so be it.
But it feels like it would be tempting fate to wear the orange helmets in a huge road game that Tennessee absolutely has to win almost exactly a year after wearing them in that horrible loss to South Carolina in Columbia.
I mean, Missouri even plays in a city with the same name (Columbia). And there's a good chance the game will be played at night (just like that South Carolina game).
Uniforms obviously don't win or lose games. But when you've already had terrible luck with a look, there's no need to even chance it. Just wear some orange pants with a white jersey and a normal helmet and go win the game.
