The Tennessee Vols have one of the most well-known pitchers in the world of baseball right now. His name is Ben Joyce. This past Saturday, he made his first career start. As per usual, Joyce threw hard. The team and its fans got to see a bit more of his off-speed stuff as well.
It wasn't his best outing as he allowed three runs in four innings, but he hadn't given that type of length to the team all season. It makes sense for the Vols to experiment with the pitching staff a bit just to see what all they have when it comes to starting and relieving. Joyce certainly was not at fault for the loss, either. The Vols were tied with Georgia through six innings, but the wheels fell off on the mound for Tennessee in the seventh.
This may not be the last start we see from Joyce. He performed well, and you could expect him to get more comfortable in that role with more experience going forward.

Joyce is getting attention from people across the sports world. That will continue while he throws in the triple digits with ease for the Vols. He doesn't seem to be slowing sown anytime soon, and he'll be a lethal option for Tennessee in the postseason.
