Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron officially re-entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Baron initially transferred to Ole Miss after the 2023 season before enrolling at Louisville.

Baron, who wants to exclusively play the edge rusher position according to Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm, suffered an injury during spring practice with the Cardinals that's expected to keep him sidelined until fall camp.

"Tyler Baron, unfortunately, is injured right now and we got to get him healthy, which will be a process all the way to fall camp," said Brohm in March.

Because Baron left the SEC when he transferred to Louisville, he's eligible to transfer back into the conference during the spring transfer window.

And several reports have indicated the SEC be where Baron lands. Ole Miss, specifically, is viewed as one of the favorites to land Baron out of the portal.

"Returning to Ole Miss is expected to be among the considerations for Baron," reported 247Sports' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz on Wednesday

There are also some rumblings that Miami could be a potential destination for Baron.

Former Vols defensive back Wesley Walker, who is Baron's step-brother, also re-entered the NCAA transfer portal this week. Walker, like Baron, initially transferred to Ole Miss this offseason before eventually transferring to Louisville.

It's not a certainty that Baron and Walker are a "package deal", but it wouldn't be a surprise if the two players end up at the same program for the 2024 season.
