The Tennessee Vols are 5-1 on the season after holding on for a 34-31 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday in Neyland Stadium.

The win was Tennessee’s first against Arkansas since 2007.

Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar passed for 221 yards and a touchdown in the win. Wide receiver Braylon Staley led the Vols in receiving with six receptions for 109 yards. Running back DeSean Bishop totaled 146 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead Tennessee’s ground attack.

Where Tennessee is expected to land in the new AP Top 25 poll after win over Arkansas

Tennessee entered the weekend ranked at No. 12 in the AP Top 25 poll.

The Vols, however, aren’t expected to make a big move in the rankings after their win over the Razorbacks.

Sports Illustrated and On3 both have Tennessee moving up to No. 11 in the new AP Top 25 poll this week. Both media outlets have the Vols jumping Oklahoma after the Sooners’ loss to the Texas Longhorns.

There’s an argument to be made that Tennessee should be ranked above Oregon after the Ducks’ loss to Indiana. Oregon’s best win is against Penn State, a team that has lost consecutive games to UCLA and Northwestern. But ultimately, it’s still too early in the season for rankings to matter (plus it’s not like the AP Top 25 matters at all).

And the Vols are still looking for a signature win of their own. Tennessee will get a chance at that signature win when it heads to Tuscaloosa next weekend for a big showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
