‘You know what it means’ – Tennessee Vols WR Chris Brazzell had perfect answer to question about facing man coverage
Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell had a huge night against the Kentucky Wildcats
Tennessee Vols redshirt junior wide receiver Chris Brazzell had a huge night in UT’s 56-34 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Saturday night.
Brazzell led the Volunteers in receiving with four receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The Texas native now has 43 receptions for 740 yards and eight touchdowns through eight games this season.
Chris Brazzell had perfect answer to question about facing man coverage
Brazzell had been mostly held in check during Tennessee’s last two games, catching just eight passes for 71 yards combined against Arkansas and Alabama.
After his big game against the Wildcats, Brazzell was asked how Tennessee connected on more deep shots against Kentucky than they had in recent weeks.
Brazzell pointed out that Kentucky played more man coverage than Tennessee had seen in its previous two games.
‘They’ve been, the last two games, playing more zone coverage to stop that,” said Brazzell. “This team (Kentucky) decided to play man coverage, so, yeah.”
A reporter followed up by asking Brazzell what that tells other teams about playing man coverage against Tennessee.
“You know what it means, I ain’t gonna say it,” said Brazzell with a grin.
That’s a perfect answer from Brazzell. Every wide receiver’s dream is to face man coverage (just ask Alabama’s Germie Bernard about his “field of dreams” quote). But there’s no need to give future opponents any bulletin board material, especially with a tough defensive matchup against Oklahoma coming up next weekend.
