On Tuesday, the SEC Network aired a behind-the-scenes look at the Tennessee Vols' 59-10 win against Ball State.
The episode included a look at the Vols' locker room during halftime.
There was a moment when defensive coordinator Tim Banks talked to his players and implored them to "not let their guard down" and to continue to play hard despite their big lead.
As the players lined up to head back onto the field for the start of the second half, Vols head coach Josh Heupel gave his players a fiery reminder.
"Go fight, strain, and compete your ass off for the next 30 minutes," shouted Heupel. "Do not look up at the damn scoreboard, everybody got me?"
How can you not be fired up after watching that?
Tennessee was up 38-0 at that point of the game. Heupel, however, didn't want his players taking their foot off the gas. Instead, he wanted them to compete like the score was 0-0.
That's a winning mentality. Without that mentality, the Vols let Ball State hang around that game. But by keeping the pressure on Ball State, Tennessee made sure they didn't make a surprise come back. That's what good teams do.
