The Tennessee Titans surprised the NFL world on Thursday night by trading star wide receiver AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for a trade package that included the No. 18 overall pick (Tennessee later traded the No. 26 pick to the New York Jets).
With the No. 18 pick, the Titans selected Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks.
Burks will essentially serve as the replacement for Brown (Brown, by the way, received a four-year extension worth $100 million with the Eagles).
Immediately after the trade was made, NFL Network's cameras caught Titans head coach Mike Vrabel's reaction.
And he didn't necessarily look happy.
Check it out:
That reaction is up for interpretation, but that doesn't look like a happy coach (I counted a couple of head turns/shakes).
If Vrabel is indeed unhappy with the trade, it would be understandable. AJ Brown is an elite NFL wide receiver who was one of the key reasons the Titans' offense was effective (along with running back Derrick Henry, of course).
We'll see how this works out for the Titans, but asking Burks, who is extremely raw as a wide receiver, to replace Brown in 2022 is expecting a lot. The Titans essentially no longer have a No. 1 wide receiver on the roster.
