The Tennessee Vols are set to take on the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night in a College World Series elimination game in Omaha.

Tennessee is still alive after their 6-4 win against Stanford while LSU joined the elimination bracket on Monday night thanks to their 3-2 loss to Wake Forest.

The winner of Tuesday night's game between Tennessee and LSU will take on Wake Forest on Wednesday.

If it's Tennessee that wins on Tuesday night, they'll face a Wake Forest team that's a lot like the 2022 version of the Vols.

The Demon Deacons have been the best team in college baseball for most of the year. They haven't lost consecutive games all season. And they seemingly always find a way to grind out tough wins.

And they have some bravado — kinda like that Tennessee team from last year.

Wake Forest closer Camden Minacci made some comments after the Demon Deacons' win against LSU on Monday night that could serve as bulletin board material for whoever their next opponent will be (the winner of the LSU/Tennessee game on Tuesday).

"How can we lose? Every single guy is having the time of their lives right now," said Minacci. "Who can beat us? It seems pretty much impossible. So the amount of fun we have is truly incredible."

Throwing out a line like "Who can beat us? It seems pretty much impossible" feels like a good way to earn some bad karma — testing the baseball gods usually isn't a good idea. Baseball is a game that humbles the best of the best on a regular basis.

Tennessee first has to get past LSU on Tuesday before they can worry about Wake Forest.

But if the Vols find themselves taking on Wake Forest, they'd be wise to pass Minacci's comments around the clubhouse. A pissed off Tennessee team could be enough to hand Wake Forest their first loss since falling 7-2 to Miami in the ACC Tournament on May 27.

Update: LSU handled Tennessee 5-0 on Tuesday night in Omaha, which means the Tigers will take on Wake Forest on Wednesday night. Perhaps LSU can use this quote as motivation….
