The Chicago Bears (3-8) will have their work cut out for them when they take the field against the New York Jets (6-4) on Sunday.

With the status of quarterback Justin Fields in question, Chicago received some unfortunate news regarding two key pieces on the defensive side of the ball.

On Friday, the Bears ruled out rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon for Sunday’s contest with concussions.

The Jets haven’t had much success through the air this season, averaging just 201.5 passing yards per game. While that total is good for 25th in the NFL, New York is making a change at quarterback for Sunday.

After an anemic performance in the team’s loss to the New England Patriots last week, Jets head coach Robert Saleh is benching Zach Wilson in favor of Mike White.

While the Bears will be without its starting safety in Brisker, his backup Dane Cruikshank is expected to suit up for his second game in Bears uniform. Cruikshank was signed this offseason after spending four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, where he was dubbed “The Tight End Eraser.”

Cornerback Kindle Vildor is expected to fill in for Gordon on the outside across from Jaylon Johnson.

The Bears’ depth will be tested on Sunday, though the team’s biggest concern lies with Fields’ injured shoulder. Fields’ status is one that is worth monitoring all the way up to kickoff.
