The left shoulder of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been at the center of conversation ahead of the team’s matchup with the New York Jets.

While reports indicate that the Bears are optimistic about his chances to play, Fields admitted to feeling some discomfort following his limited participation in Wednesday’s practice.

“It’s a separated shoulder with a partially torn ligament, basically an AC joint,” Fields said. This is an injury that sounds more serious than it really is, though many fans believe a conservative approach is the best way to handle the team’s 23-year-old star.

Head coach Matt Eberflus revealed his expectation for Fields ahead of Sunday’s game.

“If he’s ready to play, he’s gonna play. The reason is we wanna win the game,” Eberflus stated.

Eberflus also mentioned Fields’ current status is “day-to-day.” Chicago’s head coach reassured fans that Fields will not be heading to injured reserve.

His status is certainly something to monitor as the game draws nearer, but all signs point to Fields lacing up as the Bears aim to secure its fourth win of the season.
