The NFL world is a tough world, and that's something Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had to learn the hard way in 2024.

No other 1st overall pick suffered as much disfunction and disappointment that Willians endured last season while going through multiple coaches and a 10 game losing streak.

Even still, Williams ended his rookie campaign with his head held high and all the confidence in the world to hopefully straighten his career path going into Year 2.

“I think those losses were pretty important for me and my growth,” Williams told Esquire. “To go on a losing streak, to be in this position and be at the helm of it, was definitely important for me. Just being able to see how I need to be when times are bad… I’m going to work my tail off to never be in that situation again.”

A big component in helping Williams achieve those goals is newly hired head coach Ben Johnson, who aims to strip his QB back to the foundation and build him back up.

It already seems to be the start of a much promising relationship for the team's new franchise quarterback and he's looking to find all the support he needs inside the building, even though he received a lot of support from around the league in 2024.

Williams wants to instead stay close with his own team and keep the competitive edge against other players in the league.

"I think the NFL game has become very friendly, and I don’t necessarily want to be friends, because I want to keep that competitive advantage," Williams added.

While he doesn't want to make friends, Williams does have players he aspires to including Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, two of the most successful quarterbacks in recent memory who each played over two decades in the NFL at a ridiculously high level.

Williams has always had the right mindset when it comes to being great and the desire to join Brady and Rodgers in becoming of the best quarterbacks in football. Keeping that competitive edge helps, but so does a long successful career moving forward. And Williams shared what the timeline could look like.

"Hopefully I can play for another nineteen years," Williams said. "I do understand it’s going to end… capturing the moment now was important to me because, when I’m done, I want to be able to live the life I’ve worked for."
