The Chicago Bears have nearly reached the point of no return following a fourth consecutive loss based on the current NFC playoff picture.

After the Week 11 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Bears are now the 12th seed in the NFC and are on the brink of watching their playoff hopes vanish.

Head coach Matt Eberflus is the primary reason why, and that's clear to see following the team's latest loss. Looks like Chicago is headed toward yet another wasted season.

The Bears also didn't get any of the outside help they needed on Sunday to help make up for the bad loss. The Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and New Orleans Saints all picked up big wins in Week 11 to keep the wild card race interesting. Here's the updated NFC playoff picture pending Monday Night Football.

The unfortunate part is that the Bears are two key plays away from being 6-6 right now with wins over the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers, who hold the 6th and 7th seeds in the standings. Unfortunately, those plays went the other way.

Coaching decisions by the team's head coach is a big reason why those plays didn't go the Bears' way. Against Washington, the Bears allowed the Commanders to get closer before the final Hail Mary and catch the defense out of position when Eberflus easily could have called a timeout. Against the Packers, Eberflus opted not to gain any extra yards and instead run the clock down before the final field goal that got blocked.

As a result from those two games, the Bears are now 4-6 on the season and have less than 1 percent chance of reaching the playoffs according to NFL.com's playoff picture. Even the Saints at 4-7 and the Cowboys at 3-6 have higher chances.

To make things even worse, four of the Bears' six losses have been one possession games. In fact, under Eberflus, the Bears are now 5-17 in one score games, which is the worst by any head coach since 2022. The Bears have also lost six games under Eberflus in which the team had a 95% chance to win at some point in the game.

This is truly a wasted season by all accounts when you look at the level of talent this team had this season and it easily could have been avoidable. Who knows if the organization makes the right choice next time around once this season finally ends.
