Latest Aaron Rodgers injury update gives the Bears something to worry about going into Week 12 matchup with the Steelers
Aaron Rodgers is pushing to play against the Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears continued to find close ways to win games in Week 11 with a walk-off field goal against the Minnesota Vikings to improve to 7-3. No one feels sorry for the way the Bears are winning, although the team would like the process to be improved.
In the NFL, all that matters is winning when it’s all said and done. And for those questioning the schedule and quality of opponents the Bears have faced to explain the team’s record, it’s a faulty argument because you can only play the teams on the schedule.
Looking ahead to Week 12, though, the Bears seemed to be headed into another favorable situation against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left the game due to a left wrist injury and was replaced by backup Mason Rudolph, putting Rodgers’ status for next Sunday in jeopardy. Well, not so fast.

“For Aaron Rodgers, who has tests today, whether he’s able to play Sunday will be determined by if he can injure himself further and if he can grip a football. He was described as 50-50 for Sunday,” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday morning.
Rapoport added that Rodgers is “pushing to play” against the Bears at Soldier Field this upcoming weekend, and football fans should be thrilled with that news. But not Bears fans.
For years, Rodgers tormented the city of Chicago and mocked Bears fans while serving as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. When Rodgers joined the Steelers over the summer, Bears fans probably circled the Week 12 date as a potential chance to get one last laugh over the Boogeyman.
In his career, Rodgers holds a 24-5 record against the Bears with 64 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions in those 29 games. He famously yelled, “I still own you,” to the Chicago home crowd back in 2021, and has won eight consecutive games against his former division rival.
“I’ve been a fan of Chicago sports for a while,” Rodgers said before the last time he faced the Bears in December of 2022. “I have a lot of respect for the city and the legacy of excellence that the team and the region has. I always enjoy playing against the Bears.”
It’s difficult to gauge how Bears fans truly feel about Rodgers’ status for this game. Some, I’m sure, would prefer to face an inexperienced quarterback and have a better chance of getting to 8-3. Others want to finally send Rodgers out of Soldier Field with an “L” and prove themselves against a top team.
For quarterback Caleb Williams, this is also a special moment for him. Rodgers was one of Williams’ NFL idols growing up and someone he modeled his game after. There’s a real possibility this is the only chance Williams could ever have to go toe-to-toe against one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. Personally, I hope Rodgers suits up and gives us one more exciting game at Soldier Field.
