It's hard to ever get any hopes high when talking about the Chicago Bears, but expectations are once again climbing at an absurd rate heading into the 2025 season, and things might actually end up differently this time.

After all the offseason additions to the organization, including a new head coach in Ben Johnson, an overhauled offensive front, and multiple weapons brought into the building, it's easy to see how this offense can find some improvement.

To reach that point, and possibly make some noise in the NFC North, a lot of pressure will be on quarterback Caleb Williams going into his sophomore season.

Williams' rookie campaign, while disappointing, ended up still being one of the best single-season passing performances in franchise history, which isn't saying a lot.

By now, we all know the Bears have never had a 4,000+ yard quarterback or a 30+ touchdown quarterback. Williams, himself, feared coming to the place where quarterbacks go to die, but still embraced the challenge of changing the narrative.

"It's a challenge to be able to come in here and turn it around," Williams explained. "I think that was enticing. I wanted to come here and be the guy, and be a part, and be a reason of why the Chicago Bears turned this thing around."

Many are starting to predict that turnaround happens as soon as 2025 with all the new additions brought in to help take the young quarterback to the next level. One NFL analyst in particular is expecting some bold numbers out of Williams in Year 2.

Caleb Williams Projected To Throw For 4,500 Yards and 35 Touchdowns

On Thursday, NFL.com columnist Jeffri Chadiha shared his way-too-early bold predictions for 2025 NFL season. Within that piece, Chadiha predicted Williams would shatter two franchise single-season records by throwing for 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns during this upcoming season.

There's a lot of anticipation surrounding the Bears' second-year quarterback and his ability to make good on all the promise that made him the top pick in the 2024 draft. One thing that shouldn't be doubted is whether he'll become the first Chicago signal-caller to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. Williams won't just reach that barrier; he'll blow it away, especially when considering all the advantages he has working for him now. The Bears hired the best offensive mind available to be their head coach in Ben Johnson. They've rebuilt the offensive line, drafted more pass catchers (tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III) and filled more holes on the defense. Williams threw for 3,541 yards and 20 touchdowns last season when he was running for his life and trying too hard to extend plays. Better coaching and an improved supporting cast will make life much easier for him, and the numbers will bear that out." – NFL.com's Jeffri Chadiha

Would Those Numbers Put Williams In The MVP Conversation?

First of all, those numbers would be absolutely unreal to see. Williams easily has the talent to do so and the weapons plus offensive play-caller to make it happen. But, doing so in the first season under Ben Johnson would blow everyone away.

To the point where those numbers could easily give Williams some MVP votes, depending on how the overall team success looks.

While playing under Ben Johnson as his offensive coordinator in 2024, Detroit Lions' quarterback Jared Goff was in the MVP conversation after throwing for 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns, but his team was also the #1 seed in the NFC.

The eventual MVP award ended up going to Buffalo Bills' quarterback Josh Allen, who finished the regular season with 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, but added another 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

Given the national attention being given to Chicago over the last few months, backing up the hype with franchise-altering numbers can easily sway some MVP votes Williams' way.

But, again, let's not get our hopes up too high until we actually see Williams play against another live defense. In the meantime, below are some more offensive bold predictions for the Bears' 2025 season.
