The Kansas City Chiefs could be getting some great news very soon.

The Chiefs desperately wanted a true number-one type of receiver this offseason, and have yet to get one. They explored the possibility of getting Odell Beckham Jr., and that obviously didn't work. When Baltimore signed OBJ, it drove Hopkins away from the Chiefs in a trade because of the value of the two deals.

Now, Hopkins is a free agent and we are back to square one. The Chiefs' receiver room will be fine in 202 with or without a WR1, but why not try and get one? They have re-opened the possibility of getting Hopkins, and one analyst let everyone know the Chiefs are a front-runner to land him, along with one other AFC team.

"The Chiefs and the Bills are the two teams that we really should be watching in this Hopkins-free space," ESPN analyst Jeff Darlington said on Tuesday. "Some might wonder why one of those teams didn't just trade for Hopkins in the first place when Arizona made them available, but neither team could get to the point where they were going to give up trade assets, take on the contract that was on the table and ultimately win again. So instead, now they get a shot at him in free agency. Once again, the Bills and the Chiefs, I would call them front runners for Hopkins services at this point."

If the Chiefs want to keep him away from the Bills, as I think most Chiefs fans and media do, they need to pursue Hopkins hard. It seems like if he doesn't come to Kansas City, he is destined to head towards Buffalo. If the Bills got him, they would be one of the more dangerous offenses in the league, maybe the most dangerous.

It would then feature two top 10 receivers and a number three guy in Gabe Davis that can go deep any given play. Not to mention Josh Allen isn't too bad at quarterback either. This is definitely something to keep on your radar.
