The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos for the 16th straight time, the most any team has ever beaten one opponent in a row. However, while the score was double for the Chiefs, it didn't look entirely pretty, even on primetime TV.
The Chiefs struggled to score in the red zone a few times and struggled to score a touchdown in the red zone more than a few times. They also had two turnovers in that area: one by way of Patrick Mahomes pass getting tipped and another that was just a bad play call all around.
The Chiefs were lined up to kick the field goal on fourth and two, only they wouldn't kick it. Instead, they went for a fake field goal and didn't get it. They ended up getting a turnover on down. It was a play that obviously shouldn't have been called.
"We were trying to stay aggressive," head coach Andy Reid said after the win. "I probably would want that one back. I shouldn't have called that. It was two yards right there, probably a little too far."
The Chiefs have had special teams issues this year, as they have already allowed two fake punts to be converted. They have now added a failed fake field goal to the list. The Chiefs had special teams issues last year.
The Chiefs also had a big punt return by Montrell Washington get called back due to a penalty. Some of these issues need to be fixed, especially if they want to stay on this win streak.
Either way, they got the win, even if it wasn't pretty.
