Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones likes his new role as the league's villain heading into Super Bowl LVIII

The Kansas City Chiefs are now at dynasty status, and when you win enough to be labeled a dynasty, that's the time you will see the most hate. No one wants to see someone win more than you, and that's just a fact. The Chiefs have won more than any team since Patrick Mahomes has been in the league.
The narratives that formed around the Chiefs really last season but started taking off this season are ridiculous. The NFL is rigged. The Chiefs get all of the calls, even though they literally have been penalized more than any team since 2018. The Chiefs can't win if you take away one of Mahomes' weapons – then this year, he barely had any weapons at times, and they still won.
The Chiefs are now the villains of the NFL, just like the New England Patriots used to be when they were a dynasty. But the Chiefs are embracing it.
"For some reason," Chris Jones started, "everybody used to love us. We used to be one of the most favorite teams. Now, everybody is like, 'We're ready for the Chiefs to lose.' I don't know why, what changed, or what dramatic incident happened to where everybody felt like we should lose now. But it's ok. They can continue hating. The problem is we haven't won as much as people think. We've only won two, right? We only won two out of three."
Mahomes said it best, too. If someone needs a villain to root against, he will be that guy; he doesn't mind it. That's the mentality of this team. They do not care. They are going to do whatever it takes to win, and they did exactly that this season.
It does suck, though, that this could possibly be the last time we see Chris Jones as the villain in the NFL. He could very well not return to the Chiefs in 2024, and if you're not on the Chiefs, you're not a villain. If the Chiefs win this Super Bowl, they will only be even more hated. Then, think about this: The Taylor Swift saga from this season certainly wouldn't help either, as everyone who isn't a Chiefs fan has hated what has happened this year. But the Chiefs just do not care.
49ers are still having issues with the basics of football as they prep for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
The Chiefs have the 49ers in that category.
