The Kansas City Chiefs and their players could not be more excited for the next phase of camp.
The Chiefs' training camp is known as one of the hardest in the league. Well, particularly Andy Reid's camps. Every time a new player joins the team and starts his first camp with the Chiefs, one of the first questions a reporter will ask is how hard the camp is.
The answers are always the same – hard, one of the toughest, but in a good way because they feel like they will be prepared for the season. That's what sets the Chiefs apart from the league and part of the reason they have been so successful.
The Chiefs will be the first team in the league to put the pads on starting Friday.
According to center Creed Humphrey, when you ask who is most excited to put the pads on, it's right guard Trey Smith.
"He gets to hit people, and he has pads," Humphrey explained to the media.
Smith is one of the team's more aggressive and physical offensive linemen. Plenty of clips out there only further prove the statement, including one of Smith bullying star defensive linemen Jeff Simmons on the Tennessee Titans.
If I had to pick someone who is the most excited about pads, though, it is probably the Chiefs fans who will be there watching the practices. All we have seen all offseason is videos of guys without pads doing no contact. Now they get to see some hitting.
Chiefs Training Camp Battle: Offensive Guard
The Kansas City Chiefs have a position battle that will take place in training camp at the offensive guard position.
