Travis Kelce Kansas City Chiefs Tight End

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce is considered one of the best to do it, but now Greg Olson is weighing in.

There are a lot of debates when it comes to football. Was it Bill Belichick or Tom Brady? Is Jerry Rice the GOAT player, or is it Brady? Is Patrick Mahomes the most talented quarterback of all time, or is it Aaron Rodgers? And now, the most recent is Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski?

All of these are great debates, and each side can have a case made for itself. But, that last one, we may only have a definite answer once Kelce retires. You can make a case for Kelce or Gronk. You can also make a case for either of them as the greatest tight end ever.

Greg Olsen is one of the best to do it in the previous era, the same as Gronk and somewhat Kelce. He isn't in this GOAT conversation, but he was once the best tight end in the league when he played a few times. He knows a bit about the position.

Recently he gave his thoughts on Kelce's career as a whole.

"Yeah, he's on the Mount Rushmore for sure. He's in that top three or four. I said this last year, actually, on a live broadcast of one of his games: I think another couple of years — another year or two of the production that he's had over these last, call it, seven or eight — I never thought in a million years [that] anyone would be able to catch Tony Gonzalez. I think Tony's longevity, in conjunction with his productivity, just put his numbers so out there.

"I think when you factor in Travis' consistency, his production of where he is now on the all-time rankings, and now you throw in [that] he's won multiple Super Bowls, holds multiple playoff records, multiple postseason records… he's just as well-rounded productivity-wise as any player who's ever played the position. So I think in another year or two, we could be having the conversation that Travis sits atop that whole list, which is saying a lot when you start thinking of some of the names that have played tight end over the years." –USA Today

Olsen is saying forget the Kelce-Gronk debate; If Kelce can do what he has done the last few years a few more times, he may be the greatest ever. Olsen also said something else that may resonate with some older Chiefs fans. He thinks Tony Gonzalez is the best tight end ever.

Of course, if you ask some Chiefs fans today who is better, they will be slightly biased and say Kelce because, well, Gonzalez is leaving for Atlanta and saying that that place had a bigger impact on his career. Chiefs fans are salty, and rightfully so.

Travis Kelce has broken a record that people didn't think would be broken. He set record people didn't think would be set. Sure, he's 33, but he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down anytime soon. Then you add in that Patrick Mahomes connection and he can easily reach that status we all want him to reach so badly.

Travis Kelce Shows Dominance Against Bills in AFC Championship Win

Travis Kelce is continuing to prove everyone wrong. This man is the best Tight End in the league, and it isn't really close. He knows it too. Kelce won't tell you, but he didn't have to. His play in the Chiefs AFC Championship win did enough. It is crazy to think that Travis Kelce is […]
