Update: We were right.
It appears that the Kansas City Chiefs aren't quite done celebrating their 2023 NFL season and Super Bowl LVIII just yet.
On Wednesday, the club teased on X (formerly Twitter) that they've got something coming on Thursday. What exactly that is? Well, we're not entirely sure. However, the teaser dropped a few hints.
Take a look:
"Tomorrow, we roll the tape," the caption reads, followed by a film camera emoji.
The teaser video shows some old-school film rolling with a wooden crate labeled, "Chiefs 2023 Super 8 Project."
In the teaser video, there is a voice reading the following quote: "So the answer is, yes. It is possible to live in time and timelessness, simultaneously."
Many fans are speculating that this could be a teaser for a Super Bowl ring reveal announcement or upcoming throwback jerseys, but I think it's pretty clear from the teaser what we're about to see. The Chiefs captured the 2023 NFL season through the lens of classic Super 8 film cameras popularized in the mid-1960s. Think "The Franchise" but with a slightly grainy and vintage aesthetic. That certainly matches the few frames shared at the end of the teaser.
Not much is officially known about the project right now, but VP of Content & Production, Robert Alberino Jr., had this to say on his personal X account:
"I don't make a ton of promises but I promise you this," he wrote. "In 30 years, this project stands out as one of the most unique that we have done and you will see why. Don't miss a frame of it."
