Patrick Mahomes has played 113 career games, regular season and playoffs. Of all those games, he has only been the underdog 12 times, and one of those times is this Sunday in the Super Bowl.
Of those 12 times he has won nine games, he was the underdog. The Kansas City Chiefs lose infrequently while Mahomes is the quarterback.
That's a fact, too, not an opinion. Mahomes hasn't lost many games, and the Chiefs have now been to four Super Bowls in five years, with two overtime losses in the AFC Championship away from six straight Super Bowl appearances. The Chiefs are a dynasty.
But, even though the Chiefs are a dynasty, and even though they are the underdogs on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers and were also the underdogs against the Baltimore Ravens, they do not feel like underdogs in any game. In fact, Patrick Mahomes thinks he can win every game he steps on the field.
"I never feel like the underdog," Mahomes said on opening night to the media surrounding his booth. "I'm approaching every single game as if we can win."
The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 as playoff underdogs with Mahomes as the quarterback. On Sunday, they can make it 3-0. If there is one thing almost everyone in the football world has learned by now, it's that you cannot count out Mahomes, and you cannot bet against him. He finds ways to win. And now he's the villain.
49ers are still having issues with the basics of football as they prep for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
The Chiefs have the 49ers in that category.
