Kansas City Chiefs Kadarius Toney

The Chiefs have a player who wasn't appreciated by his former team, but with his first full season in Kansas City, he could make waves.

When the trade deadline approached rather quickly last season, the Chiefs didn't need to make a move. However, they saw something that not many did; they saw a very talented wide receiver not getting the disrespect and love he deserved from his team.

So, Brett Veach, the Chiefs' general manager, did what he does so often. He traded away a third-round pick for a guy who was previously a first-round pick. Now, the Chiefs have Kadarius Toney, who looks like he could be elite in the Chiefs' offense, and they believe that too.

They didn't go ultra-aggressive on DeAndre Hopkins because they think Toney can be a potential WR1. He needed to be given the opportunities, appreciated, and in a good enough offense with the New York Giants. But the Chiefs, yeah, they'll use him.

"Well, I think we all see what he can do when the football is in his hands," offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said earlier this offseason. "Again, the same type of deal. He comes in halfway through the season; it's a whole new offense that he has to learn the ins and outs (of). So, you have that point, and he was able to do that. It's exciting now for us to be able to take that to year two and build that relationship with Pat (Mahomes). But he's super-talented with the football in his hands, and he's been that way his entire life in his football career."

Toney can make his first-ever Pro Bowl in 2023. The only thing stopping him from doing so is himself and the injuries. He has all of the talent in the world and the support of the Chiefs, who want him to be WR1, and now with JuJu Smith-Schuster gone; the opportunity is better.

Last year was just a snippet of what we can expect to see. He was electric, and he hardly played. Toney was dealing with injuries and was still trying to learn the most complex offense in the world. He has had a full offseason to get healthy and learn the playbook.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on Toney being a Pro Bowler in 2023.
