That's a wrap for the Cincinnati Bengals' preseason slate. The Bengals leave August winless in games that don't count towards the playoffs, but do count towards formatting the initial 53-man roster.

For the sixth and last time this offseason, it's time to project who will be left on the team when the regular season is upon us. Keep in mind that the roster will likely look different after waiver claims are made.

Note: Players with single asterisk (*) are 2024 draft picks and players with double asterisks (**) are 2024 undrafted free agents.

Quarterback (2)

IN: Joe Burrow, Jake Browning
OUT: Logan Woodside, Rocky Lombardi**

The skinny: There wasn't much Woodside could do in his final chance at playing time. He'll likely be invited back to the practice squad unless another young passer becomes available.

Running back (3)

IN: Zack Moss, Chase Brown, Trayveon Williams
OUT: Noah Cain**, Elijah Collins**
I.R.: Chris Evans

The skinny: Williams looked spry when he had holes to run through against the Colts' starters. A fourth running back could easily be added from waivers, because Collins and Cain aren't enough to push this group to four.

Wide receiver (6)

IN: Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Trenton Irwin, Andrei Iosivas, Charlie Jones, Jermaine Burton*
OUT: Shedrick Jackson, Kwamie Lassiter II, Kendric Pryor, Hakeem Butler, Cole Burgess**

The skinny: Burton was the only Bengals player to score offensive touchdowns this preseason. He may not be active on game days in the regular season, but he'll be ready when called upon.

Tight end (5)

IN: Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, Erick All Jr.*, Tanner McLachlan*
OUT: Cam Grandy**

The skinny: McLachlan would probably be cut if they don't make a tough decision with the defensive line, which we'll get to in a minute. McLachlan, one of the team's sixth-round selections, will be one of a few holding his breath Tuesday. Even if he does make the cut, he could be waived following a waiver claim.

Offensive line (9)

IN: Orlando Brown Jr., Cordell Volson, Ted Karras, Alex Cappa, Trent Brown, Amarius Mims*, Cody Ford, Matt Lee*, Jaxson Kirkland
OUT: Jackson Carman, Trey Hill, Devin Cochran, Nate Gilliam, Eric Miller**
I.R.: D'Ante Smith

The skinny: Lee and Kirkland feel like locks at this point. If they went 10, Gilliam would have the strongest case to be the next guy in. We'll see if Mims returns to practice in time to challenge Trent Brown for the starting right tackle job.

Defensive line (9)

IN: Trey Hendrickson, Sheldon Rankins, B.J. Hill, Sam Hubbard, Joseph Ossai, Kris Jenkins Jr.*, Zach Carter, McKinnley Jackson*, Cedric Johnson*
OUT: Jay Tufele, Domenique Davis, Travis Bell, Justin Blazek**, Carlos Davis, Joshua Pryor, Andre Carter
I.R. Designated to Return: Myles Murphy
I.R.: Cam Sample

The skinny: Murphy and Jackson are unavailable at the moment, but Jackson's knee injury happened three weeks earlier in comparison and could return quicker. Murphy is out for reportedly four-to-six weeks, which makes him a clear I.R. to return candidate. The Bengals can designate him to return on cutdown day without first using a roster spot on him. Expect a waiver addition here to bump the actual number to 10.

Linebacker (5)

IN: Logan Wilson, Germaine Pratt, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Joe Bachie, Maema Njongmeta**
OUT: Shaka Heyward, Devin Harper, Aaron Casey**

The skinny: Between Njongmeta and Heyward, the Bengals have two good options for their fifth backer. I still lean Njongmeta since he's showed up on special teams, but Heyward certainly has more value in coverage.

Cornerback (6)

IN: Cam Taylor-Britt, Mike Hilton, Dax Hill, DJ Turner II, Josh Newton, Jalen Davis
OUT: Allan George, Nate Brooks, Lance Robinson**
PUP: DJ Ivey

The skinny: Davis is going to be one of the toughest cuts to make if that happens, but in this prediction with only nine d-linemen making the cut, there's just enough room for him. Again, the Week 1 roster is likely to be different than the initial 53.

Safety (5)

IN: Geno Stone, Vonn Bell, Jordan Battle, Tycen Anderson, Daijahn Anthony*
OUT: P.J. Jules**, Michael Dowell**

The skinny: Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo has plans for Anthony, and Battle looked great against the Indianapolis Colts' starters. Anderson still has immense value on special teams.

Specialists (3)

IN: Evan McPherson, Ryan Rehkow**, Cal Adomitis
I.R. Designated to Return: Brad Robbins

The skinny: Rehkow's inconsistency popped up yet again Thursday night, but the team may not have to chose between him or Robbins when they can just rest the injured Robbins for another four weeks.
