More turbulence was added to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton's offseason.
Burton, who was evicted back in December just days before he was prohibited from traveling with team in Week 18, was evicted for a second time last week according to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts.
Per James Rapien of BengalsTalk.com, Burton was evicted this time due to a family member bringing dogs into his unit, which violated his lease.
Sources tell BengalsTalk.com that Burton had a family member staying at his house when he was out of town. The family member brought their dogs with them, which didn't comply with the rental agreement. The landlord found out and sent the 23-year-old an eviction notice a few days later, sources say. – BengalsTalk.com's Jame Rapien
Two evictions in fewer than two months is indeed wild, but the former third-round pick does have a new place to live according to Rapien.
Following the news of his first eviction, Burton was revealed to be accused of assault a week afterwards. No charges were filed against Burton, but a 911 call recording mentioning Burton's name was released in a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Burton, 23, was selected by the Bengals with the 80th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in 14 games as a rookie, finishing with four receptions for 107 yards.
When asked about Burton's future in Cincinnati, director of player personnel Duke Tobin provided a very blunt answer about one of his more recent draft selections.
"He's done nothing, and he's going to have to start doing something quickly," Tobin said of Burton during the week of the Senior Bowl. "We knew we were taking a risk. We felt comfortable that we could help him through some of the challenges he's had in the past, and we're going to continue to try to help him. But this is professional football, and you have to take accountability, and you have to be accountable to your teammates, your coaches, and the team that you're playing for, and he has to figure that out. He's got to figure that out fast."
