Joe Burrow adds more fuel to the fire for his return following Zac Taylor’s latest announcement
Joe Burrow is only a few days away from potentially playing again for the Bengals.
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor expects Joe Burrow to be his quarterback for Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Taylor would not officially say Burrow will start and play, but told reporters Monday afternoon No. 9 returning for Week 13 is the plan.
“I anticipate him playing,” Taylor said. “But we’ll continue to work through the week. I’m not going to declare that definitively. Work through the week.”
What does Burrow have to say about it? He took to social media for that.
Joe Burrow teases return with Instagram story
Burrow posted an old selfie on his Instagram story following Taylor’s presser. It was taken in 2014 when LeBron James announced his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“He’s back” also fits this context as well.
Joe Burrow returning against the Ravens has been teased for two weeks
Burrow was officially cleared to practice on Nov. 10 following Cincinnati’s Week 10 bye. It had been 52 days since his surgery for turf toe, and reports expected him to need at least three months of recovery time from his operation.
He didn’t even need two months to get back practicing, and Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported “Thanksgiving-ish” was when Burrow wanted to return. He was close to playing this past Sunday against the New England Patriots, and due to the short week of rest between Weeks 12 and 13, and the long rest between Weeks 13 and 14, the Bengals held him back so he could focus on starting Thanksgiving night.
Taylor isn’t going to confirm Burrow’s return until he needs to do so, but this very much looks like the plan. Him going as far as saying he anticipates Burrow playing is as close of a confirmation as one can get from Taylor when injuries are the topic.
Burrow’s story only adds fuel to the fire. So long as there are no setbacks in the next few days, expect Burrow to bel cleared off the Reserve/Injured list heading into Thursday’s game.
