At 1-6 on the season it is time to face it, the Cleveland Browns are going absolutely nowhere this year. With that, the Browns need to ride out this season and begin looking for next year.
Over the final 10 games of the season for Cleveland, we will likely see them give younger players a bigger role to see what they have in them for the future.
Looking even further ahead, here at A to Z Sports we dropped our latest 2025 NFL mock draft recently. The Browns went in an interesting direction with their first round pick.
Browns select Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan with the No. 2 overall pick
As it currently sits, the Browns are set to have the No. 2 pick in the draft behind only the New England Patriots. By landing McMillan here, the Browns get a WR1 caliber player who just may be the best weapon in the entire draft.
“Getting a quarterback is certainly an option for the Browns, but they seem to be stuck with Deshaun Watson, especially post-Achilles tear. Select the best wide receiver in the NFL Draft in McMillan who can be a great complement to the players already in the room, providing an elite catch radius for whoever ends up under center.” – Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports
Cleveland traded Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore is scheduled to be a free agent after the season. Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and rookie Jamari Thrash are three wideouts that should be around next year. Jeudy has proven to be a capable second option but has yet to prove he is a top wideout for an NFL offense.
Bringing in McMillan would give the Browns a huge 6-foot-5 target that can win all over the field. McMillan has been super productive in college and currently leads all FBS wideouts with 780 yards in four games. Last season, McMillan had 1,402 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Even as a freshman, McMillan put up 702 yards and eight touchdowns.
While passing on a quarterback is tough, the Browns could fill out the rest of their needs before taking said quarterback. In this situation, they likely wait until 2026 for their quarterback.
