There are still good options out there.

The Green Bay Packers have been fairly active this offseason to add new pieces to the roster. After trading for Zaire Franklin, the front office has already signed cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, wide receiver/kick returner Skyy Moore, and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave in free agency.

But there are still avenues to improve the roster without compromising the long-term outlook of the team. So, let’s discuss the top remaining options for Green Bay.

EDGE AJ Epenesa, Buffalo Bills

Joey Bosa could also be here, but Epenesa is 27 and could be a mid-term solution for the Packers with some long-term upside. He wouldn’t be more than a rotational edge rusher. But with Micah Parsons getting back from injury, and after moving on from Rashan Gary and Kingsley Enagbare, the Packers need depth — especially to start the regular season.

RB Emari Demercado, Arizona Cardinals

Yes, there was that one play where Demercado fumbled the ball right before crossing the goal line, making head coach Jonathan Gannon furious — and Gannon now happens to be the Packers’ defensive coordinator. Outside of that play, though, Demercado was an extremely efficient backup runner. He led the entire NFL with 5.52 yards after contact per attempt, with 7.1 yards per carry. He’s elusive after passing the line of scrimmage, even though his ability as a receiver is limited. Because the Packers haven’t re-signed Emanuel Wilson, Demercado could be a solid complementary piece to the RB room.

Because Demercado was set to be a restricted free agent and the Arizona Cardinals didn’t tender him, he wouldn’t count toward the compensatory pick formula.

TE Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers released Dissly as a salary cap move, signing Charlie Kolar to fill the void. But the blocking tight end is an intriguing fit for Matt LaFleur’s offense, historically being a high-level pass protector, even though he’s not more than just a viable receiver. He wouldn’t affect the compensatory pick formula and brings depth to a room that doesn’t have much beyond Tucker Kraft — especially because Luke Musgrave can’t block or play special teams and is in the last year of his deal.

G Mekhi Becton, Los Angeles Chargers

Another player cut by the Chargers as a cap casualty, Becton had a truly bad year in Los Angeles in 2025, there’s no way around it. But Becton is a fine depth piece or a useful starter if he’s the fifth best player on the line. The Chargers’ group was so banged up and limited in terms of talent that Becton didn’t have a chance.

The 6-7, 360-pound man was coming off an extremely solid year as a starting right guard for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and he was mostly viable at tackle for the New York Jets, even though multiple injuries affected the perception around him. If Becton is willing to sign another prove-it deal like he did with the Eagles two years ago, he would be a decent depth option behind Anthony Belton.

QB Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals

Some rumors connected the Packers to Jimmy Garoppolo ahead of free agency, so the former 49er and Ram would be the most likely backup QB signed. But Joe Flacco is a better option because of his arm and his knowledge of the game to help Jordan Love. After Day 2, we put Kyler Murray and Geno Smith on this list, but Smith went to the New York Jets and it sounds like Murray will inevitably end up starting for the Minnesota Vikings.
