The Indianapolis Colts are one of the few teams that it feels like mock drafters are all in agreement on the best path for them to take in the 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

Tight end and secondary are the far and away most popular projected selections made for the Colts. A new A to Z Sports mock draft has the Colts take a different approach, which would point towards them moving off a notable in-house free agent.

Colts land Georgia LB Jalon Walker to replace free agent E.J. Speed in a new 2025 NFL Mock Draft

"This mock draft didn't fall the way most Colts fans likely want, as many believe Indianapolis is targeting a tight end (Tyler Warren) or safety (Malaki Starks) in the first round. However, Jalon Walker is far more than just a consolation prize. Just like Abdul Carter, Walker can feature as both an edge rusher or off-ball linebacker. Walker has a smaller sample of work at edge, but his rare athleticism should help his game translate wherever the Colts deploy him."

New A to Z Sports Mock Draft

E.J. Speed is coming off his first season as a full-time starter, and it led to him setting his new career highs with 142 total tackles and 93 solo tackles. Even with these career numbers, Speed struggled in coverage and has had the second most missed tackles in the NFL since 2023, according to PFF, with 45.

With the team already extending Zaire Franklin, giving Speed a new deal doesn't seem like it is in the cards. So, replacing him early in the 2025 NFL Draft could be a smart plan. Georgia's Jalon Walker is a unique player who can rush the passer and play as an off-ball linebacker. His athleticism offers him a solid upside in coverage and would be able to be a fun piece for new Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo as he begins deploying his scheme.
