On Wednesday, Chris Simms of NBC Sports released his annual "Top 40 QBs" in the NFL rankings.

And fans of the Indianapolis Colts will either laugh at the list or get incredibly angry.

Simms ended up ranking two Colts QBs in his top 40, the first being backup Joe Flacco, who the team signed this offseason, coming in at 37. As a new Colt and the team's backup, fans are likely happy just to see Flacco make the list. When it comes to the ranking of starter Anthony Richardson, though, I don't expect such a kind response.

Richardson came in at 32 as the top player in Simms' category labeled "The Young & The Reckless." Richardson only appeared in four games last season, so I don't think fans should expect him to be ranked too highly. But to come in at 32, which is good enough for the worst starter in the NFL, is a hilariously bad take.

He showed how dynamic of an athlete he can be, with him completing 50 of his 84 pass attempts for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, as well as rushing for 136 yards and four touchdowns. And that was just in two full games and two games where he was ruled out for the game before halftime. He flashed the next level talent he possesses, and his sophomore year will be all about showing it more consistently. But even in just four games, having him ranked 32nd makes no sense. Especially with Simms ranking the following QBs over him that, I simply don't see a single viable reason to do so.

  • Justin Fields (25)
  • Will Levis (26)
  • Michael Penix (27)
  • Jayden Daniels (28)
  • Bo Nix (29)
  • J.J. McCarthy (30)
  • Ryan Tannehill (31)
