The Indianapolis Colts have multiple glaring needs on their roster entering the NFL Draft. This makes it feel they could go in multiple different directions with their early selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. One of their top needs will be wide receiver after trading away Michael Pittman Jr.

The Colts have two of their starters in the room already on the roster in Alec Pierce and Josh Downs. However, another starting-caliber player in the room would make sense as an early selection come draft time.

One of the options they are considering is a talented ACC wideout. Who, if it weren’t for a season-ending injury last year, would be in play to be a first-round pick.

Colts set to host Chris Bell for a pre-draft visit

According to Ian Rapoport, the Colts are scheduled to host Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell for a Top-30 pre-draft visit. Bell spent all four years of his college career at Louisville. He appeared in 47 games and finished his collegiate career with 151 receptions, 2,166 yards, and 12 touchdowns.

This past year, Bell was on pace for a monster year, recording career highs across the board with 72 receptions, 917 yards, and six touchdowns. Sadly, his season was cut short after only 11 games in December due to a torn ACL.

On top of missing the end of the season, Bell has also not been able to do on-field workouts during the draft process. He now finds himself projected as a day-two draft pick, even with first-round talent.

Bell would be a fantastic addition to the Colts’ wide receiver room. His ability to separate and make plays after the catch would complement Pierce on the outside and potentially be an upgrade to Pittman Jr. from last year.

For the Colts to land him, it would almost certainly have to be with their second-round selection, currently slated for pick 47. The injury in December may take him some time to get to 100% health, which makes drafting him tricky. Some teams can be patient, but the Colts are entering a must-win season. So do they feel confident they can win while Bell gets healthy?
