Colts sign former Vikings safety Cam Bynum in free agency

The Vikings drafted Bynum in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He only started three games in his rookie year but appeared in 14. He became a full-time starter for the Vikings in 2022 and hasn't missed a single game during that stretch. In his four years in Minnesota, he has recorded eight interceptions, 28 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.
His ball skills are evident on film, and he is coming off the best year of his career with three interceptions and 10 pass deflections. As impressive as he has been on the field, Bynum's name is known by many because he went viral this past season due to the amount of time and effort he puts into his celebrations on the field. Mutiple videos took over the internet of Bynum choreographing a few different team dances that helped the Vikings' defense have some of the most clever and flat-out best celebrations in the league.
It looks like Bynum's new teammate, Kenny Moore II, is already well aware of his new safety ability in that regard. The longtime Colt reacted with the perfect emoji on social media to welcome Bynum to Indy.
More thoughts on Cam Bynum from a Vikings beat writer
The Vikings wanted to re-sign Bynum and tried to do so during the season, something they don’t do. He was a stalwart player for the Vikings and had a breakout season this past year as a player bringing the best celebrations to the league. The sticking point was likely due to money, especially with only six safeties making $15 million per season and he isnt quite the athlete that those players are. What you are getting is a very good player who is versatile and smart while being able to play some corner in an emergency since that was his position in college.

Colts expected to lose a player they drafted in the second round due to a large free agency contract this week
Free agency is always a two-sided sword for NFL teams. While they have the chance to sign players from around the league, they also often watch players they've grown to love go to higher bidders. That fact is certainly true for the Indianapolis Colts, who are expected to see multiple of their in-house free agents sign […]
