Colts’ captain and star player went scorched earth on a former teammate who he believes shaded the team after Week 1
Colts captain didn’t appreciate what his former teammate chose to post on Instagram
Indianapolis Colts LB Zaire Franklin has never been shy about sharing what’s on his mind. It’s part of the reason he’s become one of the top leaders in the Colts locker room, which has led him to be voted a captain multiple times now.
Recently, a former Colts player made an Instagram post celebrating his new team’s Week 1 win. Franklin and many Colts fans took what he had to say as a shot at the Colts directly. And to say Franklin was annoyed by this would be an understatement.
Zaire Franklin sounds off on former Colts TE Kylen Grason over an Instagram post

Kylen Granson spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Colts after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. During his time in Indianapolis, the Colts failed to win a season opener. So when he picked up a win with his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles, it was the first time he’s ever been 1-0 in the NFL.
This led him to post to Instagram to celebrate with the following caption: “5 yrs in, finally tasted a Week 1 win. Philly let’s keep rolling! #gobirds.” Franklin took this as a shot at the Colts, and he wasn’t standing for it. Franklin appeared on the Club 520 podcast hosted by Jeff Teague and sounded off on Granson’s post and lack of production during his time with the team. “Kylen Granson didn’t make any plays when he was here,” said Franklin.
Personally, when I saw Granson’s post, I didn’t think he had any malicious intent. During his time here, he had a big personality and always seemed to be an upbeat presence on the team. I genuinely don’t think he was taking a shot at the Colts with his post. I think he was simply celebrating his first Week 1 win. Franklin and many Colts fans disagree with me on the subject, though.
Thankfully, the Colts also picked up a Week 1 win in their matchup against the Miami Dolphins. So that embarrassing 11-year-old Week 1 losing streak has finally come to an end. So, whether Granson was taking a shot or not, the Colts and Granson both ended their Week 1 losing streaks this year. It seems Granson caught wind of Franklin’s comments because he added the post you can see below to his Instagram story.
