Colts leave no question as they blow the doors off the Titans to pick up the divisional win and improve to 3-0
Colts pick up a divisional win and improve to 3-0 to start the year
The Indianapolis Colts looked like the better team from the opening kickoff to the final whistle in this one. They took down their AFC South rivals, the Tennessee Titans, in convincing fashion, 41-20.
The Colts improved to 3-0 on the year, a record they haven’t had since 2009. Multiple players led the way during this domiant win, two in particutlar stand out with another position having injuires stack up that could be something worry about going forward.
The legend of Indiana Jones contuies to grow
The legend of Daniel Jones, aka Indiana Jones, added another chapter to his career resurgence with the Colts in Week 3. He completed 18 of his 256 pass attempts for 228 yards and a touchdown on the day. He contuines to run Shane Steichen’s offense at a high level and contuine to make many people around the league (including myself) look foolish for dobuting their decision.
He is now 3-0 as the Colts’ starter and has the team playing the best football we’ve seen since the Andrew Luck days. If he continues to play at this level, the Colts will have no choice but to hand him a hefty check at the end of the season. However, if they continue to win games and secure their first AFC South crown since 2013, I don’t think anyone will have a problem with them doing that.
Jonathan Taylor looks better than ever
Colts star RB Jonathan Taylor is playing at a high level to start the year. He put up over 160 rushing yards in Week 2 and finished with 102 rushing yards and punched in three touchdowns in Week 3.
He already led the league in rushing before today’s game and now has 338 rushing yards on the year through the first three weeks, which puts his weekly average at 112.66 yards. Taylor is picking up right where he left off at the end of the last season and looks like one of the best RBs in the NFL as a result.
Injuries at CB are something to worry about
The Colts are 3-0, and two of their wins have been blowouts, but there are still some things to worry about. On defense, their edge rushers contuing to struggle to generate sacks and pressure at a consistent rate is troublesome for example. Another area is cornerback, where the team saw star slot CB Kenny Moore go down with an injury today after losing rookie Justin Walley to a torn ACL in training camp.
If Moore has to miss time, I would expect to see the Colts make a move for another slot CB, one they’ve recently worked out that has a past relationship with Lou Anarumo, is Mike Hilton. Xaiven Howard had another week where he struggled throughout, so even if Moore doesn’t have to miss time, the team would be wise to look for upgrades at CB.
