Day 2 of Colts Training Camp
Live from Colts Training Camp
The monsoon coming down in Westfield, IN, didn't stop the Colts from completing their 2nd training camp practice of the year. The team moved inside and upped the workload from Wednesday's training camp opener.
I was live on the field to take in the team's activities and heard from multiple players and head coach Shane Steichen himself about the state of the horseshoe.
Day 2 of training camp, while still a compacted hour timeline, had the Colts open up the field during 11 on 11 and 7 on 7's beyond the red zone to the middle of the field, which led to more to assess than day 1.
Anthony Richardson's 1st day with the starters

Wednesday, Gardner Minshew took 100% of snaps with the ones. After practice, head coach Shane Steichen shared that he would be "flip-flopping" Minshew and rookie Anthony Richardson with the starters. That stood true Friday as Anthony Richardson took 100% of the snaps with the ones.
The highlight of the day came when Anthony Richardson rolled to his left and delivered a beautiful to deep ball on the move to WR Alec Pierce 50+ yards in the end zone. The day wasn't perfect for Richardson as he put a few throws behind target in the seam. Steichen shared his thoughts on the rookies' 1st day with the starters, saying, "I thought he did a really nice job. The thing we are looking for is that he had good days in the spring then had time off in the summer time we didn't want him to take a step back. I don't think he's done that at all he just continues to improve."
Taylor still present during social media drama

Jonathan Taylor's agent Malki Kawa has been on quite the social media tangent over the past few days, but that hasn't deterred the Colts RB from being present for training camp. Taylor is still on the active PUP list, so he is not participating in practice. Today though, he did move with the rest of the RB room and watched on as they did their drills which was a nice change from Wednesday's practice. Taylor's demeanor still hasn't felt like his usual self, and Jim Irsay's comments to ESPN's Stephen Holder doesn't make it sound like the tension will be ending anytime soon.
Evan Hull with a HOT start to camp

With star RB Jonathan Taylor sidelined, more opportunities are available for players like Evan Hull. And Hull is making the most of his increased role. Hull was a standout player during Wednesday's practice and continued right where he left off Friday.
His 1st highlight play of the day came while working with the starters, where he took a throw from Anthony Richardson in the seam for a huge gain. Later he would show his ability as a runner between the tackles taking one long run all the way for a touchdown.
Josh Downs and Anthony Richardson's relationship

During rookie minicamp, Josh Downs shared that he and QB Anthony Richardson took it upon themselves to get passes in, in their hotel parking lot. Since then, he shared that he made the trip to Miami with the QBs and WRs prior to training camp. And today, he was able to catch passes from him live with the starters during 7 on 7's and 11 on 11's. Downs commented on his relationship with Richardson today by saying, "Me and Anthony are cool; he's my roommate right now for camp, so every night, we talk a little bit about practice and things we can do tomorrow. I like having him as a roommate so I can tell him ill be open whenever he throws me the ball." Downs went on to share his thoughts on Richardson's 1st day with the starters by saying, "He surprises me with the things he can do, he has some crazy ability. I saw that throw he made to Alec, he flicks his wrist, and the ball goes 60 yards."
