Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) walks off the field after taking a hard hit from Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andre Cisco (5) while diving toward the end zone Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Colts are heading into Week 2 0-1 and now will attempt to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start to their 2023 season.

But even more important than the team's record is the status of key players who went down with injuries during Week 1, such as rookie QB Anthony Richardson.

Anthony Richardson:

Thankfully for Richardson and the Colts, the team was confident enough to speak on his injury status immediately following yesterday's game. Head coach Shane Steichen gave a positive update on the team's starting quarterback.

This update confirms the notion that the team held Richardson out at the end of yesterday's game because they waived the white flag on the game's outcome, not because of the severity of the injury. When asked post-game how he was feeling after the injury, Richardson shared, "I'm alright, I'm more so hurt that we lost than my knee." Richardson will now need to learn to find a healthy medium of using his special ability to run the football without taking hits like he did yesterday to remain healthy at the next level.

Evan Hull:

Richardson wasn't the only rookie to leave yesterday's game with an injury, as rookie RB Evan Hull was ruled out with a knee injury. Hull took his 2nd carry for a significant gain that a penalty would negate. The Colts seemed to be giving Hull the keys at the RB position when he went down as well after not seeing much of him prior to that drive. But after a Deon Jackson fumble, Hull took over the next possession. Joel Erickson of The Indy Star shared a big update on Hull's injury yesterday. That sounds like the team believes the rookie avoided a serious injury.

Andrew Ogletree:

Andrew Ogletree was able to haul in one of the longest passes of the day, but it came with a big illegal hit as a result. He would immediately be looked at for a concussion after the hit and later would be ruled out with a concussion. Ogletree will now have to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in order to return to the field for Week 2 or beyond.
