Not only was it not the Indianapolis Colts’ year to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, but apparently, it was even hard for players who played for the franchise in the past to make it to the big game.

On this year’s Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots rosters, there is a total of one player who has ever played a game with the Colts.

In fact, that player hadn’t even been a member of the Colts until this year, after the team claimed him off waivers following roster cut-down day in August. So let’s take a look at the lone former Colt with a chance of becoming a Super Bowl champion today, linebacker Chad Muma.

Former Colt now on the Patriots

Chad Muma, LB

The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Muma in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent his first three years with the team, appearing in 50 games and recording 94 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and three sacks.

He didn’t make the Jaguars roster in 2025, and the Colts claimed the former third-round pick off waivers. He went on to play five games for the Colts this year and recorded five total tackles.

The Patriots claimed Muma off the Colts’ practice squad this season, and he played in three regular-season games. He’s dressed for all three of New England’s playoff games this year and now has a chance to play in his first Super Bowl.
