The Kansas City Chiefs is set to play the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, with a 'Swift' boost in attendance too. This game should be fun for a few different reasons. First, the Chiefs want to extend their win streak over the Broncos to 16 straight, which is crazy to say out loud, let alone type on a screen.
Secondly, this defense plays the best football we have seen in the Patrick Mahomes era. The offense isn't playing great, but they are progressing in terms of their young wide receiver corps. The defense is going up against a Broncos team that actually has a pretty decent offense this season. However, their defense is historically bad this time, where last season was flipped.
This is the perfect game for the Chiefs to use to get back on track in terms of a dominant win they haven't had since the Bears game. Several players are set up to have big games, too. Here are three players to watch:
Chiefs 3 players to watch vs. Broncos
Isaiah Pacheco, RB
Pacheco has been dominant, in a way. He has been the lead back like we expected and has done a great job of getting those extra yards exactly when the Chiefs need them. Pacheco is also doing some good work in pass protection.
According to NFL Communications, Pacheco is aiming for his fifth game in a row with 55+ rush yards & fourth game in a row with a rush touchdown. He had a rush touchdown in the last meeting. Has 100+ scrimmage yards in two of his past three in primetime. The Broncos run defense is likely the worst in the league; look for the Chiefs to abuse that.
Mike Danna, DL
With Charles Omenihu having one more game left on his suspension and Chris Jones missing the season's first game, Danna has been stellar. He has been another form of consistency from the edge spot.
Danna had a sack last week and had four of the five games with at least a half sack. He has really come on this season and will likely continue to do so against the Denver Broncos, who also have offensive line issues. Look for Danna to be active in the run defense, too, as Denver will try and establish that first.
Rashee Rice, WR
Rice is starting to look like he may be the best receiver on the team, especially after having his second career touchdown last week, although he could have had two against the Chicago Bears. He is finding a rhythm, though.
Against the Broncos, they have also struggled in the back end when they get into zone coverage, which seems to be Rice's best trait, as he is learning how to find his spot. Hopefully, he can have a career game.
Broncos can capitalize on Chiefs’ Charles Omenihu’s suspension in week six matchup
The Denver Broncos, after a brutal week, just got some positive news. Sean Payton is guaranteed to love the recent NFL development.
