With Kansas City's 22-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, Andy Reid now has more wins with the Chiefs (131) than he did as the Philadelphia Eagles coach (130).
Reid spent 14 seasons with the Eagles from 1999-2012. His overall record was 130-93-1, with 10 postseason wins. The Eagles won six NFC East division titles, went to four NFC Championship games and went to one Super Bowl during Reid's tenure. Despite not ultimately winning a championship, it was a great run for Reid in Philadelphia.
The likelihood of him coming close to replicating that success with a different team was not expected by many. However, Reid's not only replicated it, but he's exceeded it with flying colors in Kansas City. Since joining the Chiefs in 2013, His overall record with the team is 131-51 with eight AFC West division titles and 16 playoff wins.
Reid has been to six AFC Championship games with K.C., winning four and going on to win three Super Bowls. No other NFL coach has come close to having as many wins with two different teams than Reid. When asked on Monday what it means to him to have that type of success, Reid answered humbly as always by giving credit to his players and coaches and staying in the moment.
"Yeah, it means I've been around a lot of good players and good coaches," Reid said. "It's not a, as you know, it's not a one man show. I've been lucky to be with two great organizations, and then you're only as good as your next one. So, that's how, that's how this thing works. So, it really doesn't matter what took place in the past when you're in the present here, man. You got to stay on top of the top of your game, and that's all of us, and we know we're getting everybody's best shot."
Reid has to finish the current season out as well as the 2025 season to match his 14-year long tenure in Philadelphia. He is under contract with the Chiefs through 2029, so he'll easily accomplish that barring having the desire to retire.
If Reid sustains the success he's had throughout his tenure in K.C., he could become the all-time winningest coach in NFL history. He currently ranks fourth with 261 and has Bill Belichick next in his sights, who has 302 wins. It will take 67 more wins by Reid to get to first, which would be an average of 11 per year.
