Andy Reid has officially experienced what he hasn’t dealt with since his first season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014
Andy Reid and the Chiefs have lost far too many games on the road this season, and in general.
When good things happen, like the clutch win over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday, bad things happen. On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Dallas Cowboys, who also needed that win just as badly, if not more, than the Chiefs did.
Andy Reid and the Chiefs are now 6-6 on the year, with another road loss taking the wind out of their sails. Reid has now felt what he hasn’t in a really long time – the most road losses of his career since 2014, with five. That’s the most road losses in a season in the Patrick Mahomes era.
The Chiefs are not out of the playoff race, but getting in wouldn’t do them any good
Six losses don’t mean the Chiefs are out of it, but it sure makes it a heck of a lot harder. They can win out and still not make it. The Chiefs have a very tough schedule against the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans.
You still have to get some help from other teams. The teams you have to beat out, record-wise, are the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have the head-to-head win, the Buffalo Bills, who also have that win, and the Chargers, who once again have the head-to-head win, for now.
And, even if they did make it, who’s to say they won’t just lose the first game? If you’re a wildcard team, you’re playing on the road. The only team they’ve beaten on the road this year is the New York Giants, and that game was a bit too close for comfort. They can’t win critical games on the road, and that stat shows it.
This team is just burnt out. The dynasty has definitely taken it toll on this team, and that’s okay. You can only win so much before you finally have to lose.
